Military honors and services were held for George A Hilzer, Sr., 91, of Whitesboro, Texas on Friday, August 5, 2016, with interment at Liberty Cemetery.
He was born to George Philip and Eva (Meyer) Hilzer June 30, 1925, in Henderson, Colorado.  He married Gradene Blevens December 23, 1981 in Vernon, Texas.
George was a Master Mason of Gordonville Lodge AF&AM #536 and a member of Violett Baptist Church of Callisburg, Texas.  He retired from the Air Force/Navy after 20 years of service.
He is survived by his wife of Whitesboro; son, George Hilzer of Austin; daughters, Barbara Burns and Virginia Jones, both of Mesquite; step-sons, Weldon Thomison of Burns City and Jason W. Thomison of Callisburg; brother, Adam Hilzer of Arizona; 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and12 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother, Irene Dumler; wife, Billie Marie Vaughan; brothers, Phillip and Harold Hilzer; sisters, Thelma Hilzer and Wilma Wielbert; step-brothers, Paul, Reynold and Edward Seibel.
