OBITUARY
Written for the Denison Daily News

Died - at her residence, near Denison, Grayson county, Texas, of cerebro-spinal meningitis, Mrs. S.B. Jones, wife of Dr. J.L. Jones, aged 28 years.
Appropriate remarks were made by Elder M.E. Cornell, which were listened to with marked interest by the relatives and firneds.  The subject of this sketch was a person of more t han ordinary amiability.  She endured life's trials and fulfilled its duties nobly and well.  As daughter, sister, wife, mother, friend, and neighbor, she was ever obedient, tender, affectionate, faithful, ind and obliging.  She endeared herself to all by the willing performance of many good works.
She leaves a husband, 3 children, a widowed mother, 2 brothers and a large circle of friends to lament her sudden and early death.  It is a most crushing blow, and in his deep affliction the husband feels, to adopt the following language of Job, "Have pity upon me, have pity upon me, O ye my friends, for the hand of God hath touched me."  To which we respond:
The Lord hat come near thee and taken away
The wife of they youth - thy solace and stay;
From earth's sorrow and strife now sweetly at rest,
She heeds not the grief that is thrilling the breast.

O yes, we do pity thee, and we would seek
To speak words of comfort, but language seems weak;
But we point thee, dear friend, to God's blessed word -
Its promises sweet true comforts afford.

It tells of a land where death never come
To snatch away loved one and desolate homes;
Where forever released from all sorrow and pain,
In beauty immortal you'll greet her again.
