The Cemetery is located between Kentuckytown and Whitewright, Texas, south of State Highway 11.

On October 13, 1855 at the Kentuckytown Baptist Church, a committee was appointed to select a convenient and suitable spot of ground for a graveyard. Members of the committee were J. Y. Hill and Z. Ray. The committee selected a site on the southwest corner of  Z. Ray's land, 1/2 mile southeast of Kentuckytown. The Cemetery came into formal existence in 1856. No evidence of deed or written contract has been found. The cemetery lots were made available to the public without charge. ("Kentucky Town and its Baptist Church" by Joe W. Chumbley, 1975.)
