Patsy Jean "Pat" Crookham of Southmayd, Texas passed away Monday, April 23, 2016 at the age of 84.
Pat was born September 22, 1931, daughter of John Dudley Ireland and Mary Charlotta Sweeney Ireland of Sherman; she was born at the home, Kempler Hill, Van Alstyne, Texas.  Pat's parents arranged the she and her younger brother, Baxter "Pete", enter school together and together they graduated from Southmayd High School in 1949.  She then went on to marry Ota Foy Crookham, son of George Lucinda Crookham and Sally Rosna Riggan Crookham of Sherman.  They were married January 21, 1950 at the home of his parents.  Pat expressed her love for God early in life by asking her parents if she and Pete could drive themselves to church by themselves.  Through the years she displayed God's love by attending the Friendship United Methodist Church presiding at the United Methodist women functions, leading the United Methodist Youth, serving as lay leader to the United Methodist Conference, serving as delegate to the Ecumenicial Council, serving as member to the El Divino Church, serving as member to the St. James United Methodist Church, serving as lay ministed to Lake Texoma Ministry, serving as the lay minister to the Grayson County Juvenile Detention Center and member of Lakeway United Methodist Church.
Pat enjoyed Morgan horses, but most of all Pat enjoyed the orginazional service and served as President of the Texas Morgan Horse Club and as adult leader of the Grayson County 4-H Youth Horse Club.
Pat enjoyed traveling, reading, conversation, wildlife, painting, decorating, among other interests; but her greatest joy was hosting her family and friends for holidays, birthdays, home made ice cream and cake, or anytime they would come.
A prayer service was held Thursday evening, April 28 at Waldo Funeral Home with Father Gabe Smith of the Church of the Resurrection and Bishop Charles Niblet officiating.  Burial was on Friday morning, April 29 at Kendall Chapel Cemetery near Southmayd.
