SHERMAN - Max Shiflet, 80, of Sherman, passed away Monday, January 4, 2016, at his home. Graveside services were held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 8th at Holloway Cemetery in Luella, Texas.
Max was born July 22, 1935, in Madisonville, Texas, to Jesse Vernon and Geraldine McAdams Shiflet. He graduated from Tomball High School. He served his country proudly in the United States Air Force. He married Peggy Pool in 1960 in Lane City, Texas. He was a very loving and caring individual and would go to great lengths to help someone in need. He loved spending as much time as possible with his grandchildren. Max was an avid fan of nearly every genre of sports, whether local, national, professional or amateur. He especially loved cheering on the Texas A&M Aggies.
Preceded in death by his parents, Max is survived by his loving wife, Peggy, of Sherman; son Lee Max Shiflet and Laura Compton, of Denison; daughters, Sherry Gaskill and husband Brian of Sherman; and Peggy Ann Norman and husband David of Leonard; grandchildren, Rebecca Gaskill, Matthew Gaskill, Alison Watson and husband Lance, Tyler Norman, Kyle Shiflet and Logan Shiflet; great-grandson Gavin Watson; and his beloved canine companion, Charlie.
Arrangements were under the direction of Dannel Funeral Home in Sherman.
