Sherman, Texas (Sp.) - Funeral services were held 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the Dannel Funeral Chapel for Mrs. H.A. Ponder, 63, of Sherman, route 4.  Burial was in Holloway Cemetery.
Mrs. Ponder was fatally injured Friday when her tractor overturned and fell on her at her farm while she was mowing grass.
Mrs. Ponder, a former school teacher, was born and reared in Sherman.  She taught school at Ambrose and Thompsonville.
Among survivors is a son, Harold W. Ponder of Dallas.





Harold Ponder of Sherman, Texas passed away October 30, 2012 at his daughter's home in Denton, Texas after a brief illness. Services were held at First Baptist Church in Sherman on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at 10:00 with Dr. Mike Lawson officiating. Pallbearers were grandsons.  Private interment followed Holloway Cemetery in Luella, Texas.  Dannel Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Harold was born on February 20, 1937 to Hugh Arnold Ponder and Maudie Leo Cox Ponder in Sherman, Texas. He grew up on the Ponder family farm in Sherman. The original farmhouse was built in 1893. The property was purchased by Harold's grandfather, C.A. Ponder, in 1906. Harold loved the legacy and land of his family and worked hard to preserve it.
Harold graduated from Sherman High School in 1955 and received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from North Texas State University. After a career in finance in Houston and Dallas, he returned to live at the Sherman farm in 1985. He was also a self employed general contractor.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his son David and wife Laurie of Carrollto; daughter, Julie Coady and husband David of Denton; step-daughter Kimberly Palmer and husband Blake of Little Rock, Arkansas; grandsons, Tom, Sam and Rob Coady and Mason Ponder; granddaughter, Kendall Ponder; brother, Norman of Sherman; nieces, Nancy MacAskill and husband Tom of Plano, Susan Reddy and husband Shidhar of Allen and Karen Ponder of Delray Beach, Florida.
