Star-Telegram
April 3, 2011

By now you all are waking up to read the obituaries and surprised to see that I am in here. Yes, I passed away on March 31, 2011. Don't be sad, because you know me, and I definitely made every doctor and nurse earn their pay. I want you to know that I continued to laugh my usual laugh, even on days when I was not feeling so great. I did, however, continue to be a great listener but remained an even better talker.

Billie Joreene Stewart Padilla was born on October 2, 1928, in Van Alstyne to Opal Blythe Stewart and Thomas Jackson Stewart. She spent her childhood and summers in Van Alstyne before moving to Corpus Christi, where she finished school. She worked at Perkins Brothers and the Nueces County Courthouse before marrying the love of her life, Arthur C. Padilla, on July 4, 1954. After giving birth to their first child they moved to Houma, Louisiana, where she had two more children. She always said she couldn't get back to Texas fast enough, where she lived for the last 51 years in Richland Hills. She was a longtime member of St. Michael's Episcopal Church and was very active in Girl Scouts.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arthur C. Padilla; and two sons, Buzzy and Richard Padilla.

Left behind to cherish her memory are daughter, Terri Jones and husband, James, of Pantego; grandsons, Zach Marble and wife, Brooke, of Tulsa, Oklahoma; A.J. Padilla and wife, Melissa, of Haslet; Clint Padilla of Decatur; daughter-in-law, Debbie Padilla of Decatur; great-grandson, Jackson Scott Marble of Tulsa; sister, Tommie Macy and husband, Ralph, of Shreveport, Louisiana; sister-in-law, Yvonne Padilla of Corpus Christi; and numerous loving nieces and nephews.
