Nellie Mae Cook, age 89, of Howe Texas went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at Texoma Healthcare Center in Sherman Texas. She was born May 28, 1926 in Pottsboro Texas to James Millard and Rilla McGuffee. She married Jessie Knox Cook on October 8, 1954 at the First Baptist Church in Howe Texas.
Nellie was a faithful, devoted wife and mother and showed unconditional love for her family and friends. She loved to play the piano and spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had an unwavering faith in God, loved to read her Bible and prayed much for others. She was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church in Howe Texas. She and her husband taught the junior training union class for many years and ministered together in the nursing homes. Nellie was also recognized by the church for her 50 years of service working with children.

She is survived by her children. Mary Ruth Cook of Dallas, Linda Goucher of Howe and Johnny Cook of Quinlan; grandchildren, Amber Ewalt and huband Quinton of Pottsboro, Shannon Pugh of Howe, Chad Goucher and wife Sarah of Dallas, David Goucher of Denton; great-grandchildren Cameron Pugh, Noah Pugh, Caleb Ewalt and Wyatt Ewalt.
She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; and brother Jame McGuffee.
Funeral services were held on July 25, 2015 at the First Baptist Church in Howe. Burial was in the Holloway Cemetery.


Jessie Knox Cook, 85, passed away at Wilson N. Jones Medical Center on July 13, 2009.  He was born November 7, 1923 in Gatesville, Texas, son of Jessie Milton and Ruby Blankenship Cook.  On October 8, 1954 Jessie married Nellie Mae McGuffie in Howe, Texas.  He was a farmer for many years and worked for Texas Instruments for 18 years.  In addition, he was active in the Masonic Lodge of Howe, Texas and a member of the First Baptist Church of Howe.
Jessie is survived by his wife; 2 daughters, Mary Ruth Cook of Dallas, and Linda Goucher and husband, Randolph, of Howe; son, Johnny Cook of Quinlan, Texas; 4 grandchildren, Amber Goucher of Tyler, Texas; Shannon Pugh and husband, Ricky, of Tom Bean; Chad and David Goucher of Howe; 1 great-grandchild, Cameron Pugh, of Tom Bean; and 1 brother, Winfred Cook, of Temple, Texas.
