COPELAND DIES FROM INJURIES IN CAR WRECK
Following a 3-way car wreck morning on Hwy. 75 near the Julian C. Field plant north of the city 4 miles, Eugene P. Copeland, who resided near Bells, died a few hours later at a local hospital.
A car driven by Copeland came head on with another machine driven by J.D. Adams of Cartwright.  Immediately following the crash a third car driven by LeRoy Archer crashed into the wreck.
A Short-Murray ambulance went to the scene and brought the injured man to a local hospital.  Emergency treatment was given Mr. Adams, but Archer and all other occupants of the car escaped injuried.
Funeral services for Copeland were held at Waldo Funeral Home, Sherman with interment at Holloway Cemetery.
Surviving are his widow; a daughter, Paul Jean; 2 sons, Charles William and Jerry Michael; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.A. Copeland, route 2, Bells; 2 brothers, Bobby K. Copeland, reported missing in action in France, and Don C. Copeland, Bells; and 2 sisters, Mrs. Hubert Smith and Miss Wanda Copeland, Bells.


WHITEWRIGHT - Mary Virginia Pennell Copeland Brown was born March 31, 1921 at Sherman to Charlie Pennell and Bertie Franklin Pennell. She was married to Eugene Paul Copeland who preceded her in death. Several years later she married Clyde A. Brown who also preceded her in death. She died Friday, August 28, 2009 at the age of 88 at her residence in Whitewright.
She is survived by daughters, Paula Mulder and late husband Val of Sherman, Clydene and husband Thomas of Frisco, and Becky and husband Dean of Waskom; sons, Charles W. Copeland and wife Sandra Kay of Whitewright, and Jerry M. Copeland and wife Debby of Deadwood; loving aunt, Lucy Williams of Tom Bean; 21 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, great-greatgrandchildren and great-greatgreatgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands and one sister.

Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel, Whitewright. Officiating the service was Rev. Dr. Bob McCartney and Rev. Houston Garner. Burial followed at Holloway Cemetery in Grayson County.
Pallbearers were James Moore, Ben Moore, Mike Copeland, Charlie Keith Copeland, Chip Mulder, and J.D. Woods.
Family and friends are invited to the funeral home at their convenience on Monday to pay their respects and to sign the register book. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 6 -8 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 31, 2009 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Whitewright.
