Wendyl McAdoo was born July 25th, 1943 in Kingston, Oklahoma to Olen and Naomi (Lee) McAdoo and went to his Eternal home on February 3rd, 2016 from his Luella residence at the age of 72.
Winky worked as a longtime employee for TPL and TXU from 1967 to 1999. Winky started as utilityman to Sr. lineman then to crew foreman before retiring. After retirement, he worked for Trees Inc. from 2000 to 2014 where he served as the forestry coordinator.
Winky married the love of his life, Bobbie Bruton, on November 14, 1981 in Sherman. Winky had an unconditional love for his family and the many memories he shared with each of them. He enjoyed watching Westerns, hunting, fishing, trapping, collecting knives and all things outdoors.
Winky was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Bill and Calvin McAdoo; brother-in-law, Raymond Bruton; father-in-law, Charles “Chuck” Bruton; and nephew, “Hopper” Voyles.
He is survived by his wife, Bobbie of Luella; children, Erin Lemons, Clinton McAdoo and Russell McAdoo; grandchildren, Devin Lemons, Dylan Lemons and Luke McAdoo; siblings, Johnny McAdoo, Margaret McAdoo and Linda Voyles; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services for Winky were held at 1:00 PM on Friday, Feb. 5th, at Holloway Cemetery in Luella with Pastor Bobby Hawkins officiating. Pallbearers were family members, Russell McAdoo, Clinton McAdoo, Tommy Cox, James Kuykendall, Johnny McAdoo, John Harris, Cecil Miller and Dylan Lemons.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Wendyl’s memory to Home Hospice of Grayson County 505 W. Center St. Sherman, TX 75090.
Services were under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home in Sherman.
