A verdict of death by heart failure was the announcement of Justice of the Peace E.A. Wright today following an inquest Friday afternoon when J.A. "Jim" Martin, 70, farmer and fisherman of route 2, in the Preston Bend community was found dead at his home by R.S. Hanna, a neighbor.
Martin on an earlier occasion had invited Hanna to pick some peaches from the Martin farm and Friday morning Hanna going after his peaches, found the front part of the house closed.  Looking in a window, he saw the veteran farmer lying across the bed and after entering the back door found him to be very ill.  Believing the fisherman needed a nurse or someone to look after him, Hanna went to a nearby store and had Bud Jackson and Grover Caddell to accompany him back to Martin's farm.
Martin, who had resided in the Preston Bend community 26 years, was dead when they arrived, about 11:30 a.m.  His daughter, Mrs. T. Walker of Dallas was notified as well as Judge Wright.  The justice said he had found drugs used in treatment of heart trouble lying about the house.  When the daughter arrived, she confirmed Judge Wright's surmise that Martin was suffering from heart trouble.
Martin was born October 11, 1870 at Bossier Parish, Louisiana, son of Mr. and Mrs. Augusta Martin and was reared and received his education in Grayson County schools.  He was married at McKinney in January of 1893 to Miss Rinda McDonald.  He was a member of the Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Holloway cemetery.  Short-Murray will direct the interment.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. W.E. Powell and Mrs. Walker of Dallas.
