Funeral services for William Ike Ireland, 71, 208 West Lamar, Sherman, who died at Wilson N. Jones Hospital Thursday as the result of injuries suffered in an automobile accident Armistice Day, were held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Barrett Funeral Home in Sherman.  Rev. R.L. Gilpin, pastor of the First Methodist Church of Whitewright, conducted the services.  Pallbearers were Joe Vivian, Grady Jones, Jack Biggerstaff, Jim Grider, Leo Sweeney, and Morgan Clayton.
Mr. Ireland was born July 13, 1876 at Upton, Kentucky, son of F.B. and Elizabeth Wells Ireland.  He was married to the former Pearl Baxter of Tom Bean 51 years ago.  He was a member of the Church of Christ.  He resided in the White Mound community for a number of years.
He is survived by the following children: Mrs. O.H. Miller, route 4; Mrs. James Patterson, El Paso; W.L. Ireland, Howe; Frank Ireland, Ft. Worth; John Ireland, Dorchester; Roy L. Ireland, Denison; Capt. Kelley Ireland, with the Army of Occupation in Germany; and Mrs. Clyde Craig, Whitewright.  A brother, Tom Ireland of Denison, also survives.
