J. Floyd Simmons, 61, former Grayson County deputy sheriff and jailer under Sheriff Frank Reece, died at his home in Tom Bean at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday of pneumonia and a heart ailment.  He had been in ill health for some time.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at Holloway Cemetery, conducted by Leroy Brownlow.
Mr. Simmons was born at Jefferson on March 25, 1876.  He was married to Miss Lillie Baxter of Tom Bean September 7, 1905.
Surviving are his widow; 4 sons, Floyd, Si and Rue Simmons of Tom Bean and Mancel Simmons of Denison; one daughter, Mrs. Kermit Belew of Tom Bean; a brother, P.T. Simmons of Jefferson; 2 half-brothers, B. Simmons of Dallas and Earl Simmons of Oklahoma City; and one sister, Mrs. G.M. Boyd of Tipton, Oklahoma.
