John Robert Yeager, 82, of Savoy, Texas passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2014. He was born in Leonard, Texas on October 6, 1931 to Noel and Gertrude Yeager.
John was a Korean War veteran. He served 1 year, 11 months and 11 days in the United States Army after being drafted into the Army on November 4, 1952. Of this time, he served 1 year, 6 months, and 10 days deployed overseas, with his most significant duty assignment being with the Co C 56th ATT Bn. He received the Korean Service Medal with 1 bronze service star, United Nations Service Medal, Nation Defense Service Medal, and the Republic of Korea President Unit Citation. He was honorably discharged from active duty October 14, 1954, reaching the Army rank of Tech Sergeant (E-6) in his short time of service.
John had many years of life after his service to his country, and most of these years were shared with his wife of over 50 years, Fay Yeager, who preceded him in death. They have four children, five grand children, and nine great-grand children.
