John S. Ramsey
6 January 1867 - 4 April 1919

John Shelton Ramsey died early this morning at 5:30 am, following an illness of several weeks on 4 April 1919 in Sherman, Grayson Co., Texas. John was a highly respected Peace Officer.
Funeral services were held at the family home at 1102 South Elm Street sometime tomorrow.

Mr. Ramesy moved about ten years ago from Bells, Texas. At the time of his death he was night watchman at the Frisco Shop down town Sherman. He was a member of the Masonic Fraternity, The Odd Fellows, and Woodman, and belong to the Methodist Church.
John well be buried in the Hebron Cemetery, Grayson Co., Texas.

JOHN S RAMSEY DEAD
Death visited the home of another one of Grayson county's pioneer families Thursday morning, taking away the head of the household, John S. Ramsey, well known and beloved citizen of this city.  Mr. Ramsey had been a resident of Sherman about 10 years and of Grayson county all his life, having been born and reared here.  His birthplace was near Bells where he grew up and lived until he came to Sherman.
Deceased was 52 years of age.  
He is survived by his wife; three sons and one daughter as members of the immediate family.  The sons are Floyd Ramsey, teacher in the Cleburne high school; Patrick R. Ramsey, physical director in the Corsicana Y.M.C.A.; and Olen Ramsey, who is living at the family home, 1102 S. Elm street.  The daughter is Mrs. D.E. Leatherwood of Bonham.
Mr. Ramsey was a member of the Masonic order, the Odd Fellows and the W.O.W., also of the Methodist church. - Friday's Sherman Courier


COACH O.L. RAMSEY's MOTHER DIES HERE
Funeral services for Mrs. Cora E.B. Ramsey, mother of O.L. "Runt" Ramsey, Miami high school athletics coach, were conducted Friday at Bonham, Texas.  Mrs. Ramsey died at the home of her son, 3 E Street southwest, Wednesday.
Sher had lived at Bonham for many years and came here only 2 months ago to visit her son.  In failing health for several weeks, her condition became critical about 10 days ago.  She was 70 years old.
Besides th eson here, Mrs. Ramsey is survived by a daughter, Mrs. D.E. Leatherwood, of Bonham; 2 other sons, F.A. Ramsey of Oklahoma City and T.H. Ramsey of Corsicana, Texas; 3 sisters, Mrs. J.W. Bell of Savoy, Texas; Mrs. Amanda Boyd of Bells, Texas; and Mrs. Jim Carter of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma; and a brother, John T. Fitzgerald of Sherman, Texas.
The body was en route by train this afternoon.  Coach Ramsey, Mrs. Ramsey and their son, Bill, left by automobile at noon.  After the rites at Bonham, burial will be at Bells, Texas, the Cooper Funeral Home said.
