Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Monday at the Hebron Baptist Church for James M. Phares, 62, who died at 5:40 p.m. Sunday at his home six miles north of Savoy.  Rev. E.J. Holifield of Bells officiated.  Burial was at the Hebron Cemetery.
Mr. Phares was born in Tennessee August 12, 1878 [sic], a son of Mr. and Mrs. Lincoln Phares.  He came to Texas at the age of five.  He was a member of the Methodist Church.
Surviving are two sons, Jess Phares of Savoy and Ross Phares of Bells; two daughters, Mrs. C.C. Whitlock of Bells and Mrs. N.F. Hicks of Clarendon; 10 grandchildren; two brothers, Rufus Phares of Nocona and Joe Phares of Sheran; and five sisters, Mrs. Alice Waldrop of Bells; Mrs. Janice Price of Collinsville; Mrs. Loy Rogers of Wichita Falls; Mrs. Lucy Hargett of Whitewright and Mrs. Pearl Pool of Denison.
