There is a connection between the Hatfield and Porter family. Nancy E. Hatfield and Martha Porter were sisters, both daughters of B. M Goode and Nancy Daniel.  Nancy Daniel Goode died in 1908 and was buried in Kersey Cemetery, southwest of her land.

The Porters lived next door to Mrs. N. E. Hatfield from at least 1880 until at least 1908. They lived in the Whiterock District, south of Pottsboro district. They lived very near where the two districts meet and their houses were on the same tract of land,   The Hatfield/Porter land was very near the intersection of 1417 and 691, In fact, I would not be surprised if 1417 actually runs through their old property now. There is a slight chance the property was on the west side of 1417, but I feel more strongly that is was to the east....Dusty Williams

G.E. Hatfield gave James Porter's place of burial as Hatfield Cemetery located on Rt. 5 in Grayson Co. In 1880, seven years before James' death, he and his wife are living with her mother, Nancy Daniel Goode, next door to Hatfields...Lisa Hall

Family members said that they saw a headstone for James Porter located in a field "behind" where some of them lived in the Whiterock area.  North of 691 on Preston Rd.  James Clement who lives north of Pottsboro said he found two graves out in that area in the middle of a field, and Lisa mentioned this also, so I thought they must be the same ones.  We would like to find them....Natalie Bauman

I looked back through some notes and found where my husband's cousin said that a G. E. Hatfield gave James Porter's place of burial as Hatfield Cemetery located on Rt 5 in Grayson Co. On the death certificate for Martha, James' wife who died in 1916, her place of burial is listed as Hatfield Cemetery. In 1880, 7 years before James' death, he and his wife are living with her mother next door to Hatfields.
