Billy George Schumacher
15 February 1929 - 15 March 2012



Dr. B. G. Schumacher, Professor Emeritus of Management at the University of Oklahoma, passed away Thursday, March 15, 2012 in Norman, after a brave battle with Parkinson's Disease.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday, at St. Michael's Episcopal Church, in Norman. Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Monday, in Hall Cemetery in Howe, Texas.
B. G. was born Feb. 15, 1929 in Sherman, Texas to George W. and Phoebe Tolbert Schumacher. He earned his bachelor's degree from Austin College, his master's from Texas Christian University, and his Ph. D. from the University of Oklahoma. During the Korean war, he served honorably in the United States Air Force as a medical service officer. He later worked for the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development. He taught management and systems at the University of Missouri at St. Louis and the University of Oklahoma, Price College of Business. He authored several books, developed several patents, and consulted for numerous businesses and organizations.
B.G. loved to hunt and fish and was an excellent shot. He was an avid reader, a military and Civil War historian and a weight lifting enthusiast.
B. G. was preceded in death by his father George, mother Phoebe, and sister Juanita Pickavance.
He is survived by his wife Ann Hamilton, daughter Hope Kiel and her husband Doug of Plano, Texas, daughter Faith Weaver and her husband Scott of Dallas, granddaughter Ellen Weaver of Austin, Texas, granddaughter Sheila Weaver of Dallas, grandson Philip Weaver of Austin, Texas, nephew W. W. Pickavance of Galveston, Texas, nephew Tom Pickavance of Ft. Worth, Texas, cousin Henry Scharff of Sherman, Texas, cousin Margie Ruth Wilson of Sherman, Texas. He is also survived by Ann's brothers and sister and spouses, Ron and Judy Hamilton of Newcastle, Terry and Elizabeth Hamilton of Gallup N.M., Bob and Jamey Hamilton of Norman, Charles and Elizabeth Hamilton of Yukon, David and Mary Lou Casper of Oklahoma City, and nieces and nephews Denise Mohammadi, Chris Hamilton, Dana Brewster, Mary Bloedow, Blake Hamilton, Matt Casper, Drew Casper, Ginger Maxted, Edward Munoz and Michael Munoz. B. G. is also survived by dear lifelong friends Raymond Stevens of Sherman, Texas and Earl Head of Estancia, N.M.
The family thanks special caregivers Stacy Sharp and Lydia Butler, the loving staff of Arbor House, the kind team of Lifecare Hospice, and his physician Dr. Madhavi Thomas of the North Texas Movement Disorders Clinic in Bedford, Texas.

Arrangements for B. G. and his family were placed in the care of the Vice Family at Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman.
