HOWE - Graveside funeral services for Martina Akins were held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 19, 2010 at Hall Cemetery in Howe. Rev. Tom Medley of the First United Methodist Church of Howe will officiate. Mrs. Akins passed away Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at Hilltop Haven in Gunter. Waldo Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Martina was born Dec. 1, 1934 in Bonham, Texas to R. L. and Winnie (Yeager) Lawrence. She married Murry Akins on
Dec. 23, 1968 in Bonham.

Preceded in death by her parents and son, Richard (Dickie) Hayes, she is survived by her husband Murry; son Doug Hayes and wife Melissa of Kingwood; sisters Jody McMillan of Bonham and Rita Tollison of Sherman; brother Ben Lawrence
and wife Carolyn of Bonham; stepsons Mark, Greg, Eric and Kent Akins of Howe; 12 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and numerous other family members and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association, Presbyterian Hospital, 8200 Walnut Hill Lane, Dallas, TX 75231



Murry H. Akins Jr.
17 August 1936 - July 15, 2018

Murry Akins, 81, passed away Sunday, July 15, at Texoma Medical Center.  He was born August 17, 1936 to the late Murry Akins Sr. and Valda Cavender AKins.  He was a lifelong resident of Howe, where he worked as a builder, farmer and rancher.
Mr. Akins is survived by sons, Mark Akins; Greg Akins and wife, Sue; Eric Akins and wife, Janice; and Kent Akins, all of Howe; Doug Hayes and wife, Melissa, of College Station; and daughter, Jill Cole of Roanoke, Texas; 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Martina Lawrence Akins; and step-son, Dickie Hayes.

MURRY AKINS
Howe - Services for Murry H. Akins, 80-year-old Howe farmer and stockman, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the First United Methodist Church in Howe.  He died Monday at his home.  The Rev. Ralph Burk and the Rev. Scott Jones will officiate.  Burial will be in Hall Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction of Flesher Funeral Home.
Mr. Akins was born in Louisville, Ky., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Luther Akins.  On Nov. 23, 1932, he married Valda Cavender
in Durant, Okla.

He was a member and steward of the First United Methodist Church in Howe and served on the Howe School board for several years.
Surviving are his wife; son, Murry Akins Jr. of Howe; brother, Euilee Akins of Van Alstyne; sisters, Hazel Cavender and Edith Goolsby, both of Van Alstyne; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be David Catching, Mac Shields, Richard Smithwick, James Griffin, Clark Bowden, Jimmy Wormsbaker, Sonny Lane and W.E. Yonce.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 810 N. Denney, Howe, 75459.

HOWE - Services for Valda Ileane Akins, 84, of Howe, who died May 22, 1999, in Meadowbrook, N.H., were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 23, 1999 in the First United Methodist Church.  Tom Flick officiated, and burial was in Hall Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Flesher Funeral Home in Van Alstyne.
Surviving are her son, Murry Akins, Jr. of Howe; brother, George Cavender of Howe; sisters, Lois Miller of Gunter and Wanda Moses of Howe; and five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
