A14 Howe, Texas - Services for Ella Bess Shields, 84, were held Thursday afternoon, September 20, 2007 at the Howe Methodist Church with Tom Medley officiating. Mrs. Sheilds passed away Monday, September 17, 2007 at her residence in Howe. Burial followed in Hall Cemetery. Mrs. Shields was born April 9, 1923 in Celeste, Texas, daughter of Clarence McGuire and Cindy Hunter McGuire. She was a 1940 graduate of Celeste High School and a 1944 graduate of Texas Woman's University. She was active in the Howe Methodist Church, the Women's Group of Howe and the Wednesday Workers Group in Howe. She was also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and the Howe Historical Society. Pallbearers were Chris Wallace, Eric Akins, Wayne Cavender, David Catching, Harold Taylor and Ned Culp. Mrs. Shields is survived by one daughter, Paula Walker and husband, Doyle, of Royse City, Texas; one son, Gary Mac Shields and girlfirend, Tricia Grigg, of Howe; and 2 grandchildren, Meredith Walker and Lance Walker.
