Services for Mrs. Thelma R. Turley, 84-year-old longtime Sherman resident, were held at 11 a.m. Friday in Dannel Funeral Home Chapel. She died Wednesday at Medical Plaza Hospital.
The Rev. Rick Johnson, pastor of Central Christian Church, officiated. Burial was in Hall Cemetery in Howe.
Mrs. Turley was born in Royse City, the daughter of John and Cora Lee Terry Thompson. She attended Royse City schools and Mary Nash College in Sherman. On June 8, 1931, she married J.O.Turley.
She taught school for many years in Grayson County, and was a member and deaconess at Central Christian Church.
Among her survivors are her husband; son, John Turley of Sherman; daughter, Jo Ann Shackelford of Austin; brother, Paul T. Thompson of California; sister, Bonnie Herron of Paris; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held today at 11 a.m. at Hall Cemetery in Howe for 84-year-old Sherman resident, J.O. Turley, who died Saturday at his residence.  Rev. Rick Johnson of Central Christian Church officiated.  Arrangements were under the direction of Dannel Funeral Home.
Mr. Turley was born in Howe, son of Robert Lee Turley and Amanda Elizabeth Hicks.  He attended Howe and Dorchester schools.  For many years he was self-employed and farmed and ranched in the area.
He married Thelma R. Thompson June 8, 1930 in Sherman.
Survivors include son, John Turley of Sherman; daughter Jo Ann Shackelford of Austin; sister, Maude Phillips of Bells; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
