EARLY SETTLER DIES MONDAY
Mrs. Octavia [sic] Nicholson, 73, Had Lived in This Community 57 Years

Funeral services for Mrs. Octavia Nicholson, 73, who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Luther Burkett near Luella Monday afternoon were held at the Howe Methodist church Tuesday afternoon. Rev. Ben Bell, pastor of the Leonard Methodist church, conducted the services.  Burial was at Hall Cemetery.
Mrs. Nicholson was born in West Virginia, May 14, 1864 and came to Texas at the age of 16, settling in Grayson county where she had since resided.  She was married to Tom Ferguson and resided at Farmington until his death.  One child was born to this union.  She later married Joe Nicholson, who preceded her in death 6 years ago.  Six children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Nicholson, 5 of whom survive.
Mrs. Nicholson is survived by 2 sons, Other Ferguson of Farmington and Ralph Nicholson of Sherman; 4 daughters, Mrs. Lela Cates of Sulphur Springs; Mrs. Anna Lou Burkett of Luella; Mrs. Walter Enloe of Howe; Mrs. A.K. Snider of California; 9 grandchildrenand 5 step-children.
