Howe-Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Central Baptist Church, Sherman, for John H. Cox Sr., 68 of Howe, a retired Quaker Oats employee, who died at 2:40 a.m. Thursday in a Sherman Hospital.
Rev. L. S. Ledbetter, pastor of the Church, and Rev. C. J. Graves of Sherman, Methodist minister conducted the services. Burial was in the Hall Cemetery, west of Howe, directed by Flesher Funeral Home of Van Alstyne.
Pallbearers were Melvin Jobe, Jesse James, Truett Davenport, Wendll Sprowl, J. M. Howdeshell and Roy Williams.
Mr. Cox was born March 22, 1892 in Illinois, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Fate Cox. On October 9, 1911 he married Miss Mary Almeatie Gurley. He was a member of the Central Baptist Church, Sherman.
Survivors are his wife; son, John H. Cox, Jr. of Howe; 5 grandchildren; 2 sisters, Mrs. Mary Ferguson and Mrs. Betty Douglas both of Farmington, one brother; Dennis Cox of Kiowa, Oklahoma.

MRS. MARY COX
Howe-Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Cox of Howe were held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church here.
Mrs. Cox died at her home here Monday morning. Rev. Bill Hindeman and Rev. Tom Johnson officiated.  Burial was in the Hall Cemetery directed by Flesher Funeral Home of Van Alystne.
She was born in Texas April 10, 1892, daughter of Mr and Mrs D. W. Gurley. She was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church of Howe.
Survivors include; a son, John Herbert Cox of Sherman; a sister, Mrs. Ethel Wax of Gilliam Arkansas; 5 grandchildren and
4 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were: Roy Williams, Otis Whisenant, J. W. Ham, O. T. Corbin, Dallas Jordan and Jim Bolen.
