Services for Jimmy Louis Stofel, 60, of Gunter, Texas, were held Monday, April 17, in Flesher Funeral Home Chapel, Van Alystne, Texas, with Tex Monk officiating.
Mr. Stofel was born October 27, 1939 south of Leon, the son of Elmer K. and Georgia Brewer Stofel. He died Thursday, April 13, 2000 at his home in Gunter.
He was born and raised in Leon and graduated from Leon School in May 1959. He and Sue Prince were married May 26, 1962, in Marietta. He joined the Jimtown Baptist Church at an early age. He was employed at Burlington Industries in Sherman, Texas for six years. He also worked at the Hunt Ranch in Gunter until 1977, and at the Yates Ranch in Sivells Bend, Texas until 1983. He was employed by Magnifab in Howe, Texas for a number of years until illness forced his retirement in September 1999.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Prince Stofel of Gunter; one son and daughter-in-law, John and Debra Stofel of Celina, Texas; two daughters and sons-in-law, Gail and Kenneth Jaresh of Gunter and Teresa and Alan Monk of Dorchester, Texas; seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; five brothers, Kenneth Stofel and Mac Stofel of Leon, John Stofel of Kingston, Wes Stofel of Marietta and Eddie Stofel of Andrews, Texas; and three sisters, Ann Flatt of Marietta, Mary Stonebarger of Howe and Reba Taylor of Ringling.
Interment was in Gunter Cemetery, under the direction of Flesher Funeral Home, Van Alystne.

Janice Sue Stofel, age 68 of Gunter, Texas passed away on August 3, 2011. She was born on January 19, 1943 in Chickasha, Oklahoma to Elmer and Mae (Murphy Price). On May 29, 1962 she married Jimmy Stofel in Marietta, Oklahoma. Janice was a cook for the Gunter School District for several years. She was at one time an emergency care attendant, homemaker and a loving mother.
She is survived by her three children, Gail Jaresh and husband, Kenneth of Gunter, Texas, John Stofel and wife, Debbie of Gunter, Texas, Teresa Mond and husband, Alan of Dorchester, Texas; eight grandchildren, Janice Moreno and husband, Luis, Darla Jaresh, Jerriett Stofel, Tonda Heist and husband, Allen, Cassandra Belt and husband, Calvin, Candace Monk, Lillie Monk and Autry Monk; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Buddy Mill Prince of Bloomfield, New Mexico and Donald Prince of Tuscan, Arizona; several nieces and nephews and many friends.
Janice is preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Stofel; sister, Wilda Jones and her parents, Elmer and Mae Prince.
Funeral Services were held at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Gunter on Friday, August 5, 2011 with Mr. Alan Monk officiating. Interment followed at Gunter Cemetery where Janice was laid to rest by her husband, Jimmy. - - - -
