Services for Hassie Lee Cross George, 86, of Sherman, TX were held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, October 17, 2007 at the First Baptist Church Memorial Chapel in Sherman. Services will be officiated by Dr Mike Lawson, Pastor of the church, Burial followed at the Gunter Cemetery in Gunter, Texas.  She passed away on Sunday, October 14, 2007 at the Wilson N. Jones Medical Center in Sherman. 
Hassie was born in Kingston, Oklahoma on July 1, 1921, the daughter of C.C. and Gracie Pearl (Greenwood) Attebery. 
Hassie married Elzie J. Cross in 1937. Mr. and Mrs. Cross lived on and farmed several acres in Gunter while raising their two daughters. They were very active in the First Baptist Church of Gunter. Following the death of Mr. Cross in 1959, Hassie later married Vancil George and they resided in Celina, Texas. Mr. George preceded her in death in 1990. After the death of Mr. George, she bought a home and moved to Sherman to be near her daughters and grandchildren. 
In the next few years Hassie moved to the Renaissance and then to Texoma Healthcare in Sherman. 
Hassie loved to play Skip Bo and Chickenfoot. She worked as a seamstress until she retired. She was a member of the Crutchfield Baptist Church in Sherman.
Hassie is survived by her daughter Jean McConnell and fiance' Waymon Reed, daughter Pearl Cross, seven grandchildren, Les McConnell & wife Susan,, Debby Wiley & husband Mack, Brad McConnell & wife Vicki, Corey Almena, Elena McCollum & husband Mick, Christi Hickman & husband Jared all of Sherman, Texas. Brent McConnell of Denison, TX, two Sisters, Francis Strother of Nederland, TX, Ruth Polson of Oklahoma City, OK., Sister-in-Law Juanita Woods of Arlington, TX and Half Sister Christine Alvey of California. She is also survived by 18 Great Grandchildren, two Great Great Grandchildren and numerous Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and a host of friends. 
She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and son-in-law James P. McConnell. 
Family night will be on Tuesday, October 16, 2007 from 5:30 to 7:30 PM at the Waldo Funeral Home in Sherman. 
Pallbearers will be Les McConnell, Brad McConnell, Brent McConnell, Mick McCollum, Waymon Reed, Mack Wiley and Clay Wiley. Honorary pallbearers will be Jared Hickman and Corey Aleman.
