pg. 1

At 9 a.m. Sunday, January 7, Mrs. Edna Malone, of Savoy, daughter of Mr. James Prichett, an old and respected citizen of that neighborhood, and niece of Mrs. Ella Wilson of this city, died at her home - a house in which she saw life's beginning and life's close - after a brief journey of but 26 years, after a struggle of 53 days with typhoid fever, and was laid to rest Monday afternoon in the family lot at Savoy.  The funeral service was conducted by Rev. Alderson of Bells of the M.E. church south, of which Mrs. Malone a consistent member from childhood, and was attended by people for miles around, who by their presence testified to the esteem in which the deceased was held.  Mrs. Malone had been married but a year.  She leaves a six-week-old baby girl to keep her memory green and be a consolation to the stricken husband and father.  To the father, brother, and sisters the loss is doubly keen.  The mother, Mrs. Prichett, passed from this life when Edna was but 16, the oldest of 7 children.  Edna took her mother's place, caring for the household and aiding the father to rear the 6 younger ones.
Mrs. Malone was a visitor here often during her girlhood days and the many friends she made will learn with regreat of her early call from earth.
