Funeral services for Verla Gene Lambert, 82, of Germantown, Tennessee were held Friday, August 10, 2018 at Meador Funeral Home in Whitesboro with Chaplain George Wade officiating.  Interment followed at Georgetown Cemetery, Pottsboro.
Gene passed away Saturday, August 4, 2018, at his home in Tennessee.
He was born October 24, 1935 in Dexter, Texas, son of Opal Lee and Velma Morrison Lambert.  After graduating from college, he went to work serving and protecting others throughout his life as a Police Officer in Denison, Texas and with the Grayson County Sheriff Department.  He served as a Railroad Chief investigator with Frisco Railroad and as Supervisor through multiple states with the railroad.  He was a proud Mason.  Gene had his pilot license and was proud to own and fly is own plane.
Gne is survived by daughter, Debbie Freeman of Sherman; son, Brock Lambert of DeSoto, Illinois; sister, Barbara Shugart and husband, Edward, of Callisburg; sister, Sue Shinpaugh of Gainesville; granddaughter, Shelley Jean Jones of Sherman; grandson, Justin Wayne Freeman of Denison; grandson, Liam Lambert of Desoto, Illinois; two great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Bobby Hamilton, Steve Shugart, David Shugart and Justin Freeman.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Jerry Swircznski. - - - Meador Funeral Home
