James "Jim" Edward Christman, 81, peacefully passed away into the arms of His Lord and Savior, surrounded  by his loved ones on Thursday, January 6, 2022.  Jim was born on Tuesday, June 24, 1941 in Denison, Texas, son of Edith Naomi Cook Christman and Mervin Hugh Christman.
Jim retired after 37 years with the parent company, Boise Cascade.  He traveled all over the United States and even worked a year in France, developing and implementing plant procedures.  Jim was an athlete from day one, loving baseball, football, and golf.  He was a participant, coach, referee, and fan.  He was a member of Denison High School class of 1959.
Jim was a self-taught musician.  He loved music and it played a large part in his life, especially when he and his young children attended family events.  After Jim retired and moved back to Texas, he played in a band with his brother, Bobby, and close friend, Frankey Waymire.  They donated many hours playing at local nursing homes, senior centers and churches.
Jim had 3 children that he loved very dearly: Judy Christman of Carrolton; Tammy Dean and husband, Mike, of Durant, Oklahoma; son, Keith Christman and wife, Dorris, of Laredo, Texas; 8 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 1great-great-grandchild.
Jim and Brenda Garrett met at the First Baptist Church of Pottsboro when they were both members.  They were married on October 27, 2012 by Bro. Carl Bilderback.  Brenda was first dazzled by his charm, kindness, mannerisms, beautiful white hair, twinkling eyes, and then he flashed that killer smile.   Along with Brenda, Jim inherited a family that he described as like no other.  This included Sunny and Nick Mackey and their children, Harley and Jett; Jessica and Josh McKinney and their children, Shelby, Presley, Garrett, Jaxen, and Taytum.  In 2020 his pride and joy was born, Jace.  The two of them had a very special bond and Jim loved being Jace's Papa.  Other bonus family members included his mother-in-law, Jean Hughes; Ronnie Hughes; Donna and Jim White; Louanne and Randy Walson; and a large group of special nieces and nephews.  Also included in this group, in Jim's own words,is his ex-husband-in-law, Roy Garrett. They quickly became and remained the best of friends.
Jim is also survived by his special nephew, Rob Christman; his sisters, Donna Brewer of Mena; and Glenda and Mike Renfro of Missouri; sister-in-law, Ruth Christman Newberry of Lewisville; brother, Tom Christman and wife, Adele, of Denison, Texas.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Helen and her husband, Odis Monday; brothers, Bobby and Jack Christman; and brother-in-law, Alvin Brewer.
Graveside services were held Monday afternoon, January 20, 2022 at Georgetown Cemetery, Pottsboro with David Gibson officiating.  Pallbearers include his sons, Josh McKinney, and Nick Mackey; grandsons, Garrett Stratton and Jett Mackey; nephews, Aaron Walson and Austin Perkins.  Honorary pallbearers are Rob Christman, Bob Cassel, Tuffy Lewis, and Frankie Waymire. - - - Fisher Funeral Home
