1854 -1855

In 1855 Texas had a surplus of money and the Legislature used some for public school support.  The amount given to each school district in Grayson County was 62c per capita.  The Assessor & Collector of Grayson County took the census of free white children, ages 6-16, and designated the 19 school districts for Grayson County.
