1930s

The City School of Whitewright was a two-story building built in 1880. Lewis Holland was the first principal.

In 1886, Mr. Piner and Mr. Anderson established Grayson College. There were many students, a fine curriculum and a large campus by 1893.

The Grayson College closed its doors in 1912.  It reopened in 1914 as the Carlisle Military academy which closed in 1917.

The building was bought by the Whitewright School District and used as a high school until 1966. In 1955, a Middle School in Whitewright was built.
