MR. FILGO AIDS SCHOOL
Mr. Filgo has been superintendent of the Van Alstyne Public Schools for 6 years, coming here from Sherman w here he taught in the Sherman High School for 2 years,.
He was born in Mississippi, but at the age of one year he moved with his parents to Clarksville, Texas.  After living in Clarksville for 4 years, he moved to West Texas, later moving to
Dallas County near Lancaster, where his parents still reside.  He attended a country school through the 7th grade and came to Lancaster High School, where he graduated.
After attending Baylor University for 2 sessions he taught a year, studied another year and a half and then enlisted in the army, later becoming First Lieutenant.  He was married to Miss Myrtle Hood while he was First Lieutenant.
After leaving the army he finished his college work and was a teachers in High Drive school near Lancaster for 2 years. He was superintendent at Woodson High school for one year and principal of McGregor School for 2 years.  Later he taught in Sherman, from there coming to Van Alstyne.  He has studied in S.M.U., State University, N.T.S.T.C. and Baylor.
During the time that Mr. Filgo has been superintendent of Van Alstyne, the school has progressed greatly.  It has been affiliated with every college in the state.  Its scholastic
standing is very much higher.  Mr. Filgo has helped the school immeasureably, and also has been a faithful citizen of the town during his residence here.  He is one man everywhere
respected for his honesty and absolute sincerity.
