The old school building, built in 1905, was designed by Scottish architect, John Tulloch, who resided in Sherman and designed many buildings located in Grayson County.  The brick school building contained 8 rooms on 2 floors, along with a basement.  Architect Tulloch advertised for bids to build the building on August 25, 1905, with the school board to consider the bids on Tuesday, September 5, 1905.  Matt Bradley was Secretary of the Tioga School Board.

In the spring of 1961 Tioga consolidated high grades with Collinsville, with all students attending school at Collinsville High School.

During the early 2000s Tioga Independent School District had one school for grades Pre-K through eighth. Students in grades nine through twelve attended the Gunter High School.

In the school year 2012-2013, Tioga ISD began phasing in a high school beginning with nineth grade.
