Stevens School was built in 1890 at 700 North Austin Avenue, on the northeast corner of West Walker Street and North Austin Avenue and served that part of Denison for nearly four decades.

The school was named for Robert S. Stevens, an official of the Missouri, Kansas & Texas Railroad, who was responsible for the founding of Denison.
