St. Xavier Academy
Closing Exercises at the Academy Building Tuesday Night

St. Xavier Academy directed by the Sisters of St. Mary, held is closing exercises at the Academy Building on Tuesday night in presence of an auditorium crowded with patrons of the school.  The long and exacting program of musical and literary exercises was rendered in a manner to reflect the highest credit, both upon the pupils and the school and was received with the warmest marks of approval from the large and cultivated audience.  Miss Winnie Cook, daughter of Dr. Cook, delivered the address of welcome to pastor and parents, and Miss Lillie Jones, daughter of Dr. J.L. Jones, read the Valedictory.  Misses Emma Schott and Lillie Jones who constituted the graduating class of the year, are to be congratulated upon the eminent scholastic honors they have won and the social and mental standing they have achieved as graduates of t his standard educational institution.  The attendance at St. Xavier during the past year has been as satisfactory in point of numbers as the session has been gratifying in its educational results.  The Sisters are to be congratulated upon the high standard their school continues to maintain.
