A school opened in the Pottsboro area soon after the first families settled there.  The first school site was purchased in the early 1880s by G.E. Reeves, A.W. Hulett, and T.J. Perkins, as trustees.
A Pottsboro paper carrie the following:
"School begins September 23rd.  Free school begins November 18th. "

Pottsoboro operated for many years as Common School #96.  High school students were transferred to Denison for many years.  The Pottsboro school system consolidated with Georgetown and Willow Springs; Enterprise  and Oak Grove districts were previously consolidated with Pottsboro.  The news high school was built in 1967 at a cost of $350.000, while Georgetown and Willow Springs buildings continued to be used for elementary grade for some time.
