Pilot Grove School Gets State Aid
The school at Pilot Grove will get from the State $500.00 out of the rural school fund.
The patrons of this school are to be congratulated on this, as it will give their children an eight months school.
Prof. J.H. Maxey, superintendent of this school, is utilizing every opportunity offered for bettering the condition of the pupils under his charge.  He has been using the agricultural charts and lectures furnished by the Chamber of Commerce and is now planning to organize Boys' Corn Club, and have the Woman Farm Demonstration Agent to come and organize a Girls' Canning Club.
Prof. Maxey says, "I believe in the school fitting the boys and girls for life.  I do not discount the value of education that is to be had from books; but I also believe there is a great practical value in the kind of education that will enable the boy or the girl to get the most out of life, and I want to take advantage of every opportunity afforded to improve the condition of my school and to make the school of greatest practical value to the boys and girls."
