August 16, 1956 pg. 1 SCHOOL WILL OPEN ON SEPTEMBER 4th The Whitewright Public Schools will open on Tuesday, Sept. 4, it was announced this week by Supt. S. T. Montgomery, Jr. . . . Segregation of white and colored students will continue here. New classroom furniture has been bought for the Negro school and repair work is being done on the building, including a new floor, Mr. Montgomery said.
