The Nance Prairie School was located 3 1/2 miles northwest of Whitesboro, Texas. The school building was on the NE corner of the J. Tamplin Survey No.1541.

P. M. Lorene walked to school, built a fire in the wood heater, swept the room, and pumped water from the well in the school yard.

Lorena McMenamey West taught at the Nance Prairie School in the early 1920s. Her father would drive her in his Model T Ford to the P. E. Summitt home where she boarded. He would return for her on Friday.
