Mayrant School was named for the A. K. Mayrant family living in Preston. It was located west of Preston Bend just a few yards north of the Potts Private Cemetery.  The school house was located in the J. G. Kiethly Survey No.670, which was part of thirty-three acres owned by Mrs. A. K. Mayrant.

Some of the teachers were:
  • Miss Mary Pitts of Cedar Mills
  • Mr. Johnny Vaughan of Sherman
  • Mr. A. S. Noble of Preston
  • Mr. T. P. Holt of Sherman
  • Mr. Newman
It is believed that after 1908, the Mayrant School and the Eureka School, which was also located in the town of Preston, were consolidated. A new school was built across the road from the Preston Bend Cemetery. It was called Eureka.
