Bicentennial year 1976 has inspired many persons to reminisce through old photographs.  Mrs. J.K. Brown, 1700 South Fannin, found several of interest as she browsed through old family pictures this week.  Among them is a photo of the 6th grade class at Lamar Elementary School around the turn of the century and the Denison-Sherman Concert Band, dated July 4, 1909.
Mrs. Brown's uncle, Bert Andrews, now deceased, is shown sitting on the end of the step behind the drummer.  He is the only one that Mrs. Brown could identify.
A Miss Nimon was teacher of the Lamar class pictured along with Professor F.B. Hughes, who later became high school principal, then superintendent of Denison schools.  Hughes Junior High is named in his honor.  After he retired from the school post he became Postmaster at Denison.  A notation on the back of the photo suggests that the young woman standing behind Hughes might possibly be Miss Ollie Bird.
Identification written on the back lists those that Mrs. Brown's aunt, Eunice Andrews (wife of Bert Andrews) had identified.  Some she could not remember in her later years.

Identified are:
Front row: #1 - Ray Sharp; unknown, unknown, unknown, unknown, unknown, #7 - Frank Cawthron; unknown, unknown, #10 - Newt Pitts
Second Row: #1 - Jewel Henson; #2 - Mae Bellows; unknown; #4 - Bessie Raines Hinkle; #5 - Idell Josselyn Adrain; #6 -  Katie Estelle Thayer
Third Row: unknown, #2 - Lela Eyer McCollough

Fifth Row: #1 - Mrs. Adrain Jordan; unknown; unknown; #4 - Miss Minnie Nimon; unknown; #6 - Cecil Kelly; #7 - Fannie Cumming Luetchke
