   Professor G. L. Harshaw Dead

Prof. George L. Harshaw, principal of Metropolitan Business College, died at 7 a.m. Sunday at his residence in Oak Cliff, corner of Melba and Monroe.  The cause was pneumonia. 

Born in Dade County, Missouri, on July 25, 1854, Harshaw came to Texas with his parents soon after the Civil War, settling in Grayson County.  

Surviving is wife and three children, Mary Harshaw, George L. Harshaw Jr., and Albert Harshaw.  His aged mother is Mrs. Catherine Harshaw, three sisters in Grayson County, brother in Missouri, and brother in Van Buren, Arkansas.

Funeral to be held at the family residence at 11:30 conducted by Woodmen of the World.  Interment is at Oak Cliff Cemetery.

"Prof. Harshaw engaged in school work for more than 30 years.  Twenty-three years in Denison...He was founder and manager of an academy in Denison, where he taught young men and women who are not prominent and successful citizens in various walks of b usiness and professional life.   He was a member of the Baptist Church of many years standing."




Prof. Harshaw engaged in school work for more than 30 years.  Twenty-three years in Denison, from which he moved nearly a year ago.  He was founder and manager of an academy in Denison, where he taught young men and women who are now prominent and successful citizens in various walks of business and professional life.  He was a member of the Baptist Church of many years standing.
