Grayson Land School, the official name, was also known in the community as Lone Star School. It was located in a farming area about 5 1/2 miles southwest of Southmayd.

The playground was large enough to serve as a baseball diamond. However, there was one corner that was respected
by the students and never used for playing because they had been told that a couple had been buried there although there was no tombstone marking the graves.

Mr. Reagan would conduct arithmetic and spelling matches. The student remaining standing would receive a "head mark". During the 1925-1926 school term, Howard Ainsworth and Willie Guy Hatfield, the only two pupils in the sixth grade, each had a perfect spelling record.

Teachers included:
  • Nell Blackwell, 1925-1926
  • Mr. & Mrs. Dixon and Mr. Dixon's brother
  • Cleo Reagan, 1925-1926
  • Mrs. Rutherford
Trustees included:
W. C. Ainsworth
Red Butler

The Grayson Land School was consolidated with Southmayd in 1941.
