George R. Reeves came to Texas from Tennessee.  About 1844, he donated land for a cemetery and a school.  In 1927 the Georgetown School was moved to the Pottsboro Preston Bend road on land donated by the Finke family.  The land where the school had previously sat was donated back to the Reeves heirs.   The school still operated under the name of Georgetown and was part of the Pottsboro consolidated district.
