School Building Project Launched for Collinsville

Collinsville - The Collinsville school building project was launched Tuesday morning with J.W. Becket of the works projects administration in charge,  Eighty men were assigned for the project and it is estimated that the number will reach 125 early next week.  Construction will begin March 2.

The Collinsville gymnasium is being partitioned into classrooms and these will be used for high school purposes.

Two town residences have been secured and equpped for elementary school.

The launching of this building program is the climax of an expansion program begun last summer when Ethel, Welch and Lovejoy common school districts consolidated with the Collinsville Independent School.

The building includes the construction of a 19-room school building with auditorium which seats 500, refinishing the present gymnasium, construction of a lunch room and agricultural building, bus sheds, and the building of an athletic stadium.  The total cost of the project will be $115,000, including WPA aid.
