Cashion School was named for Thomas J. Cashion who came to Grayson County in 1862. Mr. Cashion was a member of Co. B. 5th TX Rangers as 2nd Lieutenant.  The school district was near the Layne and Reasor school districts.

The first school was on land donated by the Nicholas family.  The students brought their own drinking water because water from the well was not suitable for drinking.

A second building was built on the Christman land which was located about a mile west of the old school on the Preston Bend road.

Some of the teachers were:
Nettie Sampsell
Evelyn Rogers
Leona Taylor
Rena Miller
Dovie Arnold Geer

Trustees serving the Cashion School for many years included:
Clifford Edgar Mauk
Jim Forisha
Dick Wilson

Cashion School was consolidated with the Denison School district in the early 1940s.
