Anderson school, located at Bond and MIrick, was the Negro's second public school.  The four room school had eight grades until 1902 when the ninth and tenth grades were added.
The first commencement for Anderson students was held in Hopewell Baptist Church in 1905 with Miss Mayme Dossey as the single graduate.  Miss Marie Mundine of 809 W. Bond is her niece.
Both in 1905 and 1906 there were three graduates of the school; by the next year that number had increased enough to move the ceremonies to the Old Opera House on Woodard.
Two class rooms and a separate building for Home Economics were added in 1911 and by 1912 there were 15 graduates.
Anderson became an elementary school after Terrell High School was built; it was demolished as the school system was integrated.
