A Business Men's Gym Class
Monday was the first day of active work in the campaign to raise $10,000 to reorganize the Sherman Y.M.C.A.  Several committees got out and considerable progress was reported when the several chairmen and committee members met at a luncheon at the association building last evening.  While no overwhelmingly large numbers were enrolled as members  of the "Y" during the first day, the organization of the campaign committee was completed and practically all cards assigned and enough actual progress made in in the drive to justify considerable encouragement.  Practically all of the committees were out today and the report that will be  made at 6:30 o'clock this evening are expected to be very gratifying.
Secretary Lewis has on hand a large bulletin board that will be used from day to day to...the returns on, showing both the number of members secured and the amount of money raise.  The campaign is scheduled to last through Friday of this week.

Half Down, $1 a Month
Carl Pool, president of the board, stated that members may be accepted by the committee on payment  of one-half the membership fee, the remainder to be paid in installments amounting to $1 a month.  A Senior membership, which entitles the member to all privileges of the building including use of the gymnasium showers, bowling alleys and swimming pool at any time not in use by classes, in addition to the time that has...these as a member of the Senior Class, $12.  Senior members are all those from 16 years of age up; Junior members, those from 10 to 15, pay $6.  No membership is accepted except on a year's basis.  A Senior membership may be taken on by the payment of $3 down and $1 a month for six months, and the Junior membership may be taken by one payment of $3 down and $1 a month for three months.
Sustaining membership, which are taken by most business men and entitles the members to the use of a business man's dressing room in addition to the other facilities cost $25.  The purpose of these memberships as their name indicates is to help make up the deficit which comes from  the lower price memberships, as neither the $6 nor the $12 memberships are self sustaining, so far as the association is concerned.  The value of the lower price memberships are in reality several times their cost.
A number of business men, it was pointed out, desire to give the committees sums to be used  in buying memberships for boys who are unable to buy them for themselves.  Mr. Pool said that these should be accepted and that the Secretary will see that the right boys who are unable to join the association will get the benefit of the donation.  The business men or donors will learn who is getting this benefit of the membership as the boy receiving it will be asked to write a letter thanking the one who helped him.
It was also stated that a number of business houses are assisting their employes to become members of the association, some even going so far as to pay half the membership fee.
