Virginia Point Methodist Church Sherman Democrat August 2, 1929 Just
a little country church in a beautiful grove of old trees, yet some of
the greatest revivals in the history of the North Texas Methodist
conference have been held here, one of which has recently closed.
It will be the scene Sunday of a Home coming celebration at which
many of its former pastors will speak or take some active part, and for
which many former members now living away from Virginia Point will
foregather. In addition to being probably the oldest church in North Texas, Virginia Point people say that it holds, possibly, the record of increases in membership during revivals among country churchs in this setion. In 1851 when settlers were few and far between, thre were 30 additions at a revival a number which was exceeded in later day.
