Union Church
Sherman, Texas

A two-story building was erected at Pecan and Travis during the 1850s. It was called the "Union Church".  The lower floor
of the building was used for worship services while the second floor was used for meetings of the Masons and Odd Fellows.  All denominations worshiped here until individual houses of worship were built.

Those who preached in this building were:
  • Bates - Methodist
  • B. F. Hall - Campbellite
  • McComb - Baptist
  • Haynes - Presbyterian
  • R. Masters - Baptist
The building was furnished with puncheon benches. Tallow candles were used during evening services.  The pulpit was the "boxed up" style.
