Residents living about fifteen miles from Gainesville in southeast Cooke County near Jordan Creek would meet in someone's home to study the Bible and sing church songs each week.  One night in 1874, they met and talked about building a church. They contacted the Methodist Episcopal Church South General for guidance.  Six trustees were elected to look into the matter. The trustees were N. Martin, M. C. Watson, A. J. Barron, L. D. Tipton, N. M. Ozment and B. W. Quaid.

Land was found to purchase. It was located on the old road, at that time called the old Pilot Point and Gainesville road. The land was owned by Elbert and Melvina Ogle.   The trustees purchased the land, had it surveyed, and started erecting a building.  The building was also used for a public school, a music school, a singing school, a writing school and for public speaking as well as being the Methodist church.

In 1941, Mr. Jim Johnson made a front porch and roof on the east side of the building.  Around 1954, nearly everyone had moved away for better jobs.  Conference sent the remaining members to Tioga United Methodist Church as well as the church record books.  The original books were kept in the Tioga Methodist bank box at Pilot Point National Bank.  In June 1954, Arretta Baxter gave the remaining church funds to the Indian Creek Baptist Church. In 1969, conference sold the land and church building to Mr. Baxter.  He hired a bull dozer to dig a hole and push the old church building in the hole where it was burned and covered up in January 1970.
